A major power outage struck parts of Paris and Hauts-de-Seine on Thursday morning, affecting 55,000 homes.
The outage shut down traffic lights, streetlights, metro services, and several suburban train lines.
Enedis reported that the blackout lasted about five minutes before power returned to most locations.
A few thousand homes still face disruptions as crews continue repairs.
Cause Identified by Grid Operators
Enedis said a technical failure at the RTE substation in Issy-les-Moulineaux triggered the blackout.
RTE, which manages France’s high-voltage electricity network, began investigating the malfunction immediately.
The technical issue disrupted transmissions and caused the sudden loss of power across multiple districts.
Repairs and Apology Issued
Enedis sent teams to restore remaining connections and stabilize the grid.
The operator apologised for the inconvenience and assured residents it will prevent similar incidents.
Crews continue working to ensure full service returns to all affected homes in Paris and Hauts-de-Seine.
